"Silent
Songs" For Use With Your iPod

Hi Fellow Entertainer
If
you use an Apple iPod for backing tracks you're probably aware of the
"auto-pause" problem with the iPod (that's where the iPod
automatically plays the next song as soon as it's finished playing the
previous song).
This isn't a problem for normal iPod users who just use their iPod to
listen to music, in fact it's what the iPod was designed for, but it
can be a problem for professional entertainers like you and I who need
to talk in between songs or interact with our audience.
We need our backing tracks to stop as soon as we finish
singing a song, and only start the next song in our set when we tell
it to...
There are a few solutions to this problem, and I look at some of them
in my iPod article about the auto-pause
question. If you've read the article, then you'll know that one
of the most popular solutions is to insert a song containing silence
between each backing track in your set-list.
So to do this, you'll need some "silent songs".
However, don't worry if you don't know how to produce a "silent
song"...I've produced some "silent songs" for you which
you can download and use!
These "silent songs" are in mp3 format and contain no sound
whatsoever - just silence which plays for a various lengths of time.
There are 5 silent songs in the pack consisting of 1 minute,
2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes
and 10 minutes of silence.
When you've downloaded them, transfer them in to your iPod (using iTunes).
Then when you make up your next set-list for a gig, insert the appropriate
silent song in between your backing tracks.
Now you don't need to
worry about
having to pause your iPod after each song...!
