Backing Tracks In The 21st Century
The Changes
If you've browsed our catalogue recently, you'll have noticed
that there are no CD or Minidisc delivery options to choose from
now.
Over the last couple of years, fewer customers have been requesting
backing tracks on CD or Minidisc.
Most customers now prefer to download their backing tracks instantly
in mp3 format.
Even those customers who still like backing tracks on a CD or
a Minidisc prefer to get an instant download of their backing
tracks and then burn them on to a CD or record them on to a Minidisc
themselves.
Of course this makes perfect sense. By downloading your backing
tracks in mp3 format you get your tracks immediately - there's
no waiting for your postman to deliver them through your letterbox.
Why We Changed
In early 2009 we analyzed our customer records and they showed
that more than 90% of our customers order backing tracks as mp3
downloads and download their backing tracks immediately after
purchase (instant download).
And it came as no surprise that most customers preferred instant
download of their backing tracks rather than receiving them by
post...CD and Minidisc customers often found themselves on the
receiving end of postal strikes and slow delivery by the Royal
Mail.
As well as there being less demand for CD's and Minidiscs from
customers, producing CD's and Minidiscs in our recording studio
is more costly than providing downloads. MP3 delivery on the other
hand is quicker, more efficient, more environmentally friendly,
and it allows us to pass on greater discounts and savings to you,
the customer, than ever before.
So in order to provide an efficient backing track delivery service
becoming of a 21st century backing track company, we decided in
early 2009 to remove the CD and Minidisc options from our catalogue
pages.
We created articles on how to convert MP3
to Minidisc and MP3
to CD so that any of our old customers who still want their
tracks on a CD or a Minidisc can download their tracks and create
a CD or Minidisc themselves (by the way there's also an excellent
article on how
to burn the perfect CD which is worth reading).
